Who’s Taking Part: March 2017

Schools taking part in March's I'm an Engineer

Schools taking part in March’s I’m an Engineer

I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here is back! In March students at over 30 schools will be interacting with 15 engineers across 3 different zones.

Between 6th – 16th March school students will put the engineers through their paces in fast-paced live chats and probing questions on everything from superfood, to spaceships and new types of energy.

For the latest news and announcements about the event, find us on Twitter, @iaegmooh, and follow the hashtag, #IAEIE.

Let’s meet the engineers and schools taking part…

Health Zone

This zone is funded by Wellcome.

The Engineers

Veasna Sum-Coffey | PhD Student, National University of Galway

My work will help bones heal faster after surgery.

Claire Conway | Postdoctoral Researcher, MIT

I work with doctors to better understand how medical devices perform in the body, such as stents for the heart.

Bobby Huxford | PhD Student, NUI Galway

I look at cracks growing in lightweight materials to see if we can use lighter materials instead of steel for bioengineering applications.

Claire Brougham | Lecturer, Dublin Institute of Technology

I make body parts using umbilical cords and materials I can get from animals and I hope that one day these can be implanted into babies who have hearts that don’t work very well.

David Nolan | Postdoctoral Fellow, Trinity College Dublin

I design and test medical implants using computers.
